Allow customers to choose sum to be paid towards an invoice with a Stripe Button

Started by Yaron Peled -   in Find a Developer

When we first started using Xero for our business we discovered that, while connecting Stripe and creating a Pay Now button was easy, Xero would not allow for the sum to be edited.
We found an App called InvoiceSherpa that allowed this function. InvoiceSherpa was an invoicing tool with strong Credit Control functionality, it synchronised all invoices, linked to Stripe, recorded payments and then set these against the correct invoices synchronising back against Xero. It did this by generating a payment page linked by a fixed URL that was not volatile and did not require credentials to access.
For our weddings and event business this allowed our customers, often booking 2-3 years in advance, to make payments towards their itemised and detailed bill.
The recent InvoiceSherpa v2 upgrade has broken this "choose what to pay" functionality and also forced the expiration of all the payment links.

This could be solved within Xero if one thing were possible - to create a customised Invoice that the Pay Now button linked to a payment page where the sum to be paid was editable. Is this at all possible? Is it possible to replicate the functionality we need as described above within Xero? Is it a big project?

Sorry; not a coder so any advice gratefully accepted.

Hi Yaron,

Have you contacted InvoiceSherpa regarding this regression? It sounds like you had a working solution prior to their recent update so having this resolved might be the simplest option for you?

Xero supports a customised payments link on on invoices which could take your customers to a single page website with a stripe payment form. https://central.xero.com/s/article/Custom-URL

What you would need is someone to build you the payment page connected to your stripe account. It should be relatively straight forward to do however I'd recommend making it look nice with your branding so customers are confident putting their credit card credentials into a separate website.
