Why do credit notes created through the API have todays date?/

When I create a Credit Note via the API using the Dime for Xero Salesforce plugin the 'Issued Date' of the Credit Note defaults to today's date, regardless of what is set in the code. The Due Date value is set to what it should be.

It is possible to go back an manually set the date to what it should be so the date is valid. Do you know of any reason why the system would be changing the date?
