Manual Journal to Accounts Receivable

Started by John McVeigh -   in Getting Started

Hi,
I am new to Xero. I am wondering if there is any way I can make a journal entry to adjust Accounts Receivable?
Hi Deborah,

There is documentation available for creating and editing manual journals via API.
Please refer http://developer.xero.com/documentation/api/manual-journals/.

Here is the Xero help doc if you want to read further: http://help.xero.com/#ManualJournals

Hope this helps.

Samitha

Thanks.

I have seen this however it states that, "there are a few accounts that you can’t use when entering manual journals in Xero. These include system accounts (accounts receivable, accounts payable & retained earnings) "

The 2 accounts I need help with adjusting are accounts receivables and payables. Are there any other ways of doing this?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,
Deborah

@Deborah - I'm not sure if your question was meant to be posted in the Developer forum?

Xero does not let you journal to the AR and AP control accounts (learn more)

There are some useful suggestions in the following forum thread

Xero sucks.

Without the ability to create a manual journal entry, I am looking for a workaround.

For example:
A Contact is both a Supplier and a Customer. I want to adjust the A/R balance due to Company from Contact by the A/P amount due to Contact from Company.

My current solution is to issue two "Credit Memos" that offset in a clearing account.

This is driving me insane! I have just spent $700 having our accounts transitioned from MYOB to Xero but they don't equal - why - because I cant add in my end of year adjusting journal to balance all accounts. The accounts I need to balance are AP, and bank accounts... This is bloody ridiculous! I thought this system was suppose to be state of the art, I was told, better than most systems! Well NO. And the support is frustrating as you have to wait a day for a response! Not helpful! what am I mean to do now!!!!

I'd suggest Quickbooks Online. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
