how do you renew an expired token in a public app?

I believe that for a Public app there is no notion of 'renewing'. You just do the entire re-auth process. I think it is only Partner Apps that can renew. I could be wrong on this, but it is the information that I have worked on.

If you are building an application that requires long term access to many Xero accounts, then you would need to request a partner app: http://www.xero.com/partners/developer/
