Activity statement audit report

Started by Chris Beavis in Feature Requests | Idea

The GST Audit Report layout on the new Activity Statement is too detailed and does not align to information requested by the ATO during a GST audit. Presently, Xero's activity statement audit report lists all line items that make up a Tax Invoice that is then issued to customers/clients. For some invoices, there can be many line items resulting in a long GST audit report that does not provide information in a format that the ATO wants to see. Amongst other items, when the ATO conducts a GST audit, they ask for 2 pieces of information:
1. GST audit report (the ATO calls it a "GST transactions report"), and
2. Copy of all Tax Invoices issued to customers/clients.

The ATO then assesses whether all Tax Invoices have been listed in the GST audit report. However, in the present format of the Xero report, this is not easily done as it would involve an exercise of adding the line items in the GST audit report to arrive at subtotals that can then be cross-checked to each underlying Tax Invoice.

It would be a far more effective for the Xero GST audit report to list by invoice number and the total for that invoice.
