Have had a great experience integrating workshop and xero. Has been seemless and took no effort on our part. We would highly recommend workshop software to anyone looking for either something new or for a business starting out.

I have been using the software for 3 1/2 years now and can say that it is a powerful tool for streamlining the function of your workshop. The history and search areas are very good. Mechanics times report is important. Workshop software have been active in updating the software regularly and are ALWAYS available for support. Well done I say !!!

Am happy with Workshop Software and how it works especially stock control side of software. Our old programme would not let us do as many things and to update it was very expensive compared to Workshop Software. I do have a sync problem with one of my businesses going to Xero - it will only sync manually- but I just have to contact support to sort it out. In general very pleased with Workshop Software and Xero ( so is my accountant) and would recommend to any workshop and is cost effective

Peninsula Diesel Repairs have been using workshop software since December 2016. we previously used another program that was out dated, slow and on our server. Unfortunately, we were hacked and we lost everything on our server. Luckily, we had recently done a backup so we only really lost about two months’ history. considering we weren't happy with our old program and we would need to upload everything to it again, we decided to consider something new, something safer and something faster.

This is when we came across Workshop Software. Workshop Software is on the "cloud" just like all the new programs that are coming into the industry just like Xero. Workshop Software were a great help in loading all the vehicle history and parts history that we had and made the change over extremely simple from my end of things. Since using this program, it has been everything we had hoped for. It very self-explanatory even when first learning to use it, with links to YouTube tutorials to help if need be.

The only downfall with this program is when we have had questions that the tutorials and things can’t answer, we have rung them and either our messages aren't getting passed on to ring us back or they just don't get around to it. there have been a few times where we needed answers for things and we have called daily for a week or two and we haven't heard anything back.

apart from that, it is a great program and very simple to use with many helpful aspects that help make my job a lot easier and faster.

We used Workshop Software for approx 18 months and even though there were teething issues along the way, they are constantly adding and updating the software to suit workshop owners.

Support wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either - getting an answer sometimes took longer than expected but most issues were resolved.

I found as a whole for what we required for our workshop, Workshop Software couldn't offer us right now, so we have since moved to another piece of software. Getting our database information did prove to be difficult and payment of $500 was requested for OUR information which was not stated in any of the terms and conditions and I was not happy with this; but I worked around the reports I could get my hands on to be able to move into our new system. Maybe Workshop Software need to look into this issue (or at least fully disclose this before someone signs up).

But if you are a small workshop looking to move from your current system, this is probably going to be right for you.

VERY BAD!!! We have been using Workshop Software for over a year now. It's very clunky at times, sometimes not all information comes across into XERO, the diary/booking function is very basic, you can't select times to allocate a job to a mechanic and plan your day/week ahead and the worst is that reporting is very basic. You can only print reports in PDF and not excel or csv and this makes it very hard when you need to search for something. You have to look at each invoice one by one until you find what you're looking for. The other day I couldn't reconcile the bank as a few invoices from 3 different days haven't imported into XERO so I had to compare all invoices issued in Workshop Software with the ones that came across to XERO. Due to the fact that you can only print reports in PDF it made it very hard and time consuming to find where the error was. We also wanted to extract a report showing all the vehicles the workshop has serviced and we needed all the vehicle details we have pot in like VIN, engine size, colour, etc as we are conducting a business expansion campaign and we needed all that info. The only report you can print out it only shows the car owner, car rego, make, model & cylinders ....... nothing else. So I rang Workshop Software to ask if there is a way they can provide this report or a listing of the vehicles we have taken the time to put in and create a database. They are able to provide us with a CSV file only if we pay $500. If we don't agree to pay we can't get the CSV report with our vehicles which we have taken the time to put in and create a database. Can someone tell me what's the point of creating a database if you are not able to print a report of it? Since we've been with them we've been very patient with all the issues we've had and now I can't even get my database that took an enormous amount of time to put in. We are definitely looking at changing over to another software provider and the only option of getting our database is to pay $500. I would NEVER recommend this software to anyone because it is a waste of time & money. there's much better options out there for the same price!

I have been using Workshop Software in my tyre and mechanical business for over six months now and I couldn't be happier. In terms of value for money Workshop Software is awesome. I had a look at some other options and they were expensive and also way too in-depth. The best thing about Workshop Software is it is super intuitive. It takes no time at all when training new people. I would definitely recommend this software.

Hi Samantha,
We are looking to leave Spanner Planner (NZ hours for help desk only) because we can no longer apply payment to invoices in Spanner, and now there are bugs with synchronising invoices. We are looking at Workshop and Mechanic Desk as alternatives. Unfortunately Mechanic desk thus far cannot export reports to excel.

I have reviewed SpannerPlanner quite heavily, can anyone tell me how Workshop Software is better, if they also have reviewed Spanner Planner? I have two clients looking to move to a mechanical software solution with XERO.

Our firm recently setup Workshop Software for one of our clients, and we were very impressed at the user interface, ease of Xero integration, and the support we received. They also provide regular (and FREE) training webinars to help users get the most out of the software. Highly recommended add-on.

Having searched at length for an affordable software program that suits our business needs, I am more than impressed with Workshop Software. The thing I love most is that the beautiful team at workshop are readily available to assist you with your set up and any questions you have. You can also make suggestions for changes, and they modify the system accordingly, if it is achievable.
Weekly training sessions are available, to guide you through program as well.
We love the simplicity of the program, enabling us to spend less time invoicing and more time fixing cars. There is also the convenience of being able to access your file from anywhere, as it is "in the cloud" . Our Automotive business is extremely busy , and being a parts distributor as well , the inventory system for our Parts/Stock is perfect for our business.
All this plus the convenience of syncing to xero for all our accounting needs. No double handling come BAS time. So if your after a fast, affordable and reliable system, this is the one for you.
