Leave without pay automatically when no accrued leave available
Automate payroll option so that once an employees paid leave balance is 0, any leave over and above is automatically unpaid.

There's a heaps of different ways orgs use/process leave, Rhianna so it's unlikely that the ability to default leave to unpaid if an employee has no accrued will be developed.
Perhaps you'd like to see this an an option you can set in your Payroll Settings so it can be done on an org by org basis? We'll keep an eye on this thread for interest so do make sure you come back and add your vote 😊
