Share your thoughts on best practice for invoicing and payments

Started by Catherine Walker (Community Manager) -   in Small Business

As a small business owner, the importance of invoicing is hardly news to you. Odds are you’ve picked up a thing or two on invoicing. That’s why we’re asking our community to help us create an invoicing guide. All you need to do is share your thoughts on these questions:

  1. What is the most challenging part of your invoicing process (in general)? Some common problems are:
    - Getting invoices out on time
    - Trying to recall what work was done when it comes time to produce the invoice
    - Following up on overdue invoices
    - Managing payments that don’t match invoice amounts – for example, when a payment is partial or spread across multiple invoices
  2. What is your best tip for getting an invoice paid?
  3. What's one thing you wish you had known about invoicing when you started your company?
  4. Is the ability to send an invoice while you are out and about important to your business?
  5. Do you find that sending invoices with Xero saves you time? If so, what do you use the spare time for?
  6. How often do you use Xero’s at-a-glance feature to see who owes you money? What effect does this have on your cash flow?

Everyone who responds before 31 August 2012 gets a shot at winning an iPad! So what are you waiting for?

If you'd like to give feedback on Xero not related to this question or tell us about a feature you'd like to see changed or introduced, please add it into the appropriate topic (to the left) - this thread is rather long and we don't want to miss it! Thanks.
